"Sidecar Stella, Sage Green, and a Whole Lot of Chaos"

Well, folks, it’s been a whirlwind few weeks, and I’m equal parts exhausted and exhilarated. Let’s dive into the updates, because there’s a lot to unpack—starting with the fact that I survived submitting my business plan in class. Yes, the business plan. The one that’s now investor-ready and polished enough to make me feel like a real entrepreneur. But wait, there’s more: next week, I have to “present” it to my class. Cue the nervous sweating and impromptu pep talks in the mirror. Public speaking? Not my forte. But hey, if I can survive this, I can survive anything, right?
I’m going to miss my classmates. Even though we’ve only ever seen each other over Zoom, they’ve become my virtual cheerleaders, sounding boards, and partners-in-crime. Shoutout to them for making this journey less lonely and more hilarious.
Now, let’s talk about the real star of the show: Sidecar Stella. Yes, she finally has a name! And she’s officially sage green on the outside—a decision that only took approximately 47 trips to the paint store and one existential crisis. My stepdad is still working his magic (and still attempting to knock himself out on the trailer door—seriously, someone get this man a helmet). He’s almost finished his part, which means it’s almost time for me to roll up my sleeves and start decorating, painting, and wallpapering. That’s the part I’m most excited about. Finally, my Pinterest boards will come to life!
But the most exciting thing I’ve done recently? My stylized winter photoshoot. Oh, it was a moment. I collaborated with some amazing vendors to create a “Something Old, Something Blue” theme, and it turned out beautifully. I got to showcase my charcuterie cart, candy displays, and signature drinks, as well as some table decor that, without florals (that story below), would make any event planner proud.
Of course, it wasn’t without its hiccups. The florist’s vehicle had a major malfunction on the way, and she never made it. So, I had to MacGyver bouquets and boutonnieres from whatever I could find on-site. Let’s just say flower design is not going to be a featured product in my business. But as an event planner, I think I rocked it. Still, I’m crossing my fingers that nothing like that happens at an actual wedding. (Note to self: always have a backup florist. And maybe a backup for the backup.)
I have to give a HUGE shoutout to my close friend, Candy. This woman is a rock star. She was by my side through all the planning and prepping, and she stepped in as the hair and makeup artist when the registered one couldn’t make it. (Yes, another no-show. What is it with this photoshoot?!) Candy, if you’re reading this, you’re a gem, and I couldn’t have done it without you.
And let’s not forget my beautiful niece, who modeled for bridal photos, bartending shots, and charcuterie cart attendant pics. She’s a natural in front of the camera, and I’m so lucky to have her in my life.
All in all, it’s been a busy, chaotic, and incredibly rewarding few weeks. I’m surrounded by amazing people, making progress on Sidecar Stella, and feeling more inspired than ever. Stay tuned for more updates, and if you’ve got any tips for surviving a business plan presentation, send them my way. I’m going to need all the help I can get.
Cheers,
Cindy
